We’re passionate about partnering with you for growth.

Who We Are

  • Enriching the lives of the disability and neurodivergent community by cultivating an intentional environment that honors individual identity, fosters autonomy, and provides high-quality, neuro-affirming support.

  • Moving away from compliance. Moving toward connection, autonomy, and identity.

At Empower Youth Therapy Services, we believe that traditional therapy models often miss the mark by focusing on changing who a person is to fit into a world that wasn't built for them.

Our clinical approach is fundamentally different. We practice neuro-affirming, trauma-informed care that celebrates the natural diversity of human minds and bodies.

Here is what you can expect when we work together:

    • Honoring Individual Identity & Communication: We meet every client exactly where they are, celebrating the beautiful intersections of who they are—including their neurodivergence, queer identity, and personal culture. We provide an affirming space for clients to explore and express their true selves without the pressure to mask, conform, or meet traditional societal expectations. Every form of communication, boundary-setting, and self-expression is valued, respected, and centered.

    • Fostering Pure Autonomy: Every session is built around client agency. We prioritize client-led experiences, allowing individuals to make choices, express boundaries, and lead their own developmental or therapeutic journey. We believe true growth happens when a person feels safe, empowered, and in control of their environment.

    • Strengths-Based & Nurturing: We do not look at our clients through a lens of deficits. Instead, we use music as a powerful, non-threatening tool to build on their existing strengths, support their unique sensory and nervous system needs, and nurture their holistic well-being.

    • Collaborative & Systemic Support: True support extends beyond the therapy room. We intentionally collaborate with clients, partner closely with families to support the home environment, and actively advocate within schools and community networks to break down systemic barriers.

  • Genuine Care

Our team approaches every part of our work with compassion, intention, and respect. We believe care should be present in everything we do — from supporting our staff so they can thrive, to nurturing each client’s whole well-being, to valuing the families and support systems surrounding them. It also means bringing integrity, consistency, and thoughtfulness to the everyday administrative work that helps our services run smoothly and supports the people we serve.

    Inclusive Collaboration

We intentionally collaborate with our clients to honor their voices across every stage of care, while partnering closely with families to ensure our work always aligns with the client's best interests. Internally, we lean on one another to expand our ideas and share support, extending that same collaborative spirit outward to schools, organizations, and the community to break down systemic barriers for the individuals we serve.

    Bold Advocacy

We believe that true support requires us to speak up, break down barriers, and  honor the rights of those we serve. This means fiercely advocating for our clients’ autonomy and self-determination in a world that wasn't built for them, while navigating school systems and external networks to ensure true accessibility and client agency. Our advocacy also looks inward, as we protect our staff’s boundaries and foster their professional growth so they are fully equipped to stand with our clients. Ultimately, we push boundaries to raise the bar for what neuro-affirming and disability-forward care can and should be.

Meet the Team

  • Founder/Owner and Board-Certified Music Therapist

I began my journey as a music therapist in 2017 and have consistently worked with disabled adults, advocating for their well-being and providing tailored, trauma-informed care. Diagnosed autistic later in life, I passionately advocate against curing autism and believe in partnering with individuals to support their unique needs and be authentically themselves. My core values include integrity, honesty, compassion, and connection.

My career highlights include establishing a successful therapy department at a non-profit, where I founded and expanded services, added an additional music therapist and a speech-language pathologist, and built community partnerships while collaborating with other health professionals. Fueled by a renewed vision and passion, I founded Empower You Therapy Services and have built it from the ground up with the goal of offering disabled adults access to high-quality therapies in an environment designed for them.

As a music therapist, I am trauma-informed and support-focused, using music to help individuals express themselves, develop communication skills, enhance physical abilities, and achieve their personal goals.

When I'm not working, I enjoy hiking (a big surprise, given I live in beautiful Colorado), loving on my little family of three, and continuing my personal education and growth.

I hope to connect with you soon and support your journey through music therapy.

  • Board-Certified Music Therapist

Hi, I'm Myah! Originally from Alaska, I discovered my passion for music therapy early on. In 2018, I moved to Fort Collins, Colorado, to pursue my Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy at Colorado State University. I completed my coursework in 2022 and graduated in 2023 following my internship with Elevate Music Therapy.

During my internship, I worked with a private practice primarily serving pediatric clients with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities. I had the privilege of co-treating with an interdisciplinary team, including occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech therapists, and even an equine therapist.

In my sessions, I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and identities through music. Using a variety of evidence-based techniques and interventions, I tailor my approach to meet each client's unique needs and goals. Whether it's through songwriting, improvisation, lyric analysis, or simply listening to music, I aim to empower my clients to find their voice and express themselves authentically.

I'm deeply committed to ongoing learning and growth, and I frequently integrate research findings into my practice. I'm dedicated to advocating for the rights and inclusion of individuals with disabilities, amplifying their voices, and promoting social change.

I'm excited to continue my work in music therapy and gain even more experience with clients with disabilities through my client-centered treatment. I'm passionate about community outreach and education through music groups and volunteer opportunities. Creating spaces where all individuals can thrive is a goal I hold dear. When I'm not making music, I enjoy climbing, reading, creating art, and spending time outdoors.

I look forward to connecting with you and supporting your journey through music therapy.
